When Orlando comes to mind, the thing that pops into your head is probably Disney World. However, if you are a golfer, Orlando can mean a myriad of opportunities to play on the amazing public, semi-private, and resort courses. With the great Florida weather and great facilities it’s no wonder why so many golf professionals call Orlando their home. Here are a few of the best places to golf near Orlando.
1. Walt Disney World
If you still want to find some Disney magic even on the course, then this resort is the perfect mix. The premier Disney course is Tom Fazio’s Osprey Ridge which is distinguished by its wetlands, mounds, and huge puttable greens and starts at only $104.
2. Grand Cypress Resort
The second resort contains a new course that should go on your Orlando must-play list. It features minimal trees and minimal water, semi-blind shots, double greens and more than 140 bunkers some of which go as deep as 12 feet with a ladder to get back out. This course is a test of accuracy rather than distance and strength. The resort also features 27 other holes and an extensive practice facility. This resort starts at around $120.
3. Waldorf Astoria Club
Though technically not a Disney property, the Waldorf Astoria Club is surrounded on three sides by Disney Resorts and Hotels. The Ree Jones designed course with water in play on more than half of the holes serves the guests of two different onsite hotels, the Waldorf Astoria Orlando and the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. This club starts at around $70.
