With the ever-growing anticipation for the official grand opening of Disney’s new world Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge there are a number of questions about what the public can expect regarding the rides, restaurants, and shops. What’s open already? What is in the works? We gather the info to hopefully answer as many questions as we can.
Galaxy’s Edge officially opens in Walt Disney World, Florida, on August 29th 2019. The new ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run opens with the new land. You are able to take control of the fastest ship in the galaxy on this game-changing interactive ride. Whether you are a pilot, engineer, or gunner, every roll is crucial. Don’t worry if you’ve never flown a space ship before, there is on-the-job training for each position to help you succeed in your mission.
The other main attraction opening at an unknown date later this year is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Not much is known about the content of the ride, but Disney has stated that is is one of the most advanced and immersive experiences ever created by Disney’s imagineers. What IS known however, is that Rise of the Resistance will be opening in Walt Disney World Florida before it opens in Disney Land California.
Galaxy’s Edge also features customisable merchandise, where children and adults will be able to create hand build lightsabers at Savi’s Workshop. There are four lightsaber themes to choose from: Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental nature, and Protection and Defence. Just make sure to keep the shop a secret so it’s not discovered by the First Order. Park patrons are also able to create their own droids at Droid Depot which is stocked full of parts, chips, manuals, and other tech items. You can pick from the BB series or the R series, then begin designing.
Galaxy’s edge features only the best in galactic dining at Oga’s Cantina and the Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. There are also smaller snack shops like the Milk Stand, Ronto Roasters, and Kat Saka’s Kettle to pick up come Batuu beverages and bites.
Finally, you can choose your side, the dark or the light, through shops like First Order Cargo and Resistance Supply. You can download the Play Disney Parks App to gain access to interactive adventures found in the Black Spire Outpost.
The hype won’t cease to build until the official opening in August. Until then all we can do is wait to see what sounds like one of the most ambitious projects in all of Disney’s career.Hear it straight from the source!
